I don’t love admitting this, but being an entrepreneur has sometimes made it harder to put my relationships first.

Saying “Just 15 more minutes,” after I promised I was done on the laptop.

Or “It’s just a busy season,” when the truth is, it’s always busy. 🤥

Running a business can feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders.

But here’s what I know –> without my marriage, none of this would be worth it.

One side effect I’ve noticed is how my business travel throws me and Hobie off track.

When I’m in and out of town a bunch (like I have been lately), we become two ships in the night.

When I get home, we are fully disconnected. It’s my least favorite thing.

So before my last trip, I asked him: How can I love you better while I’m away?

His answer? Simple. Text more. Check in more.

I decided to one-up him. (It’s my Enneagram 3 🙋🏻‍♀️)

Each morning when I checked in, I would include one thing I love about him.

Cheesy? Maybe. ☺️ But for five days, I not only checked in more often, I spent time really thinking about all the reasons I love being married to him.

And here’s what’s cool. He started to do the same.

And when I came home, it was like I’d never been gone.

I know this isn’t business advice, but I believe that when our relationships are thriving, business gets a whole lot easier, too.
