    I had just given birth to my second daughter and I needed a way to be home more for my family. But at the same time, I still needed to contribute financially. We were deep in the trenches of debt with 6-figures of medical bills that we would never have paid off if I kept doing what I was doing.

    So, I started searching for time management tools. I thought that if I could be more efficient, then maybe I could take on more photography clients, bring in more income for the family, and still be available to take care of my girls.

    What I ended up finding, was SO much better than that!

    Advice from one of Brian Tracy’s videos on how solopreneurs need to create passive income in order to achieve work/life balance led me to discovering Amy Porterfield.

    Courses! Yes! It made so much sense! They would give me the time freedom & financial freedom my family needed AND, maybe most importantly, I could build a community of photographers that I could serve and make an impact in their lives with what I know.

    I had a 20-year career as a corporate trainer, but in August of 2016, I decided to walk away. I packed up my husband and my cat, hit the road in an RV, and at the request of my friends, I started a blog about my experiences.

    I’m an accountant by day and a creative person by night. For me, that means making stuff by hand and selling it on Etsy. After a couple of years of doing this, I realized there’s a gap in the market. So many people—mostly women—love crafting stuff that they can sell online, but they don’t know-how.

    So, I started a mastermind where I could teach what I know. And it grew quickly… BUT I got to the point where I couldn’t take on more clients because I couldn’t keep up!

    That’s when I had the idea of creating a course where I could teach LOTS of students all at once—instead of one at a time the way I had been doing it.

    Here’s the thing, though: I had NO idea how to run an online course. I just did it anyway. (This is before Digital Course Academy, of course.) To give you some context, I ran the whole thing in a Facebook group and I put the videos up on Vimeo and then just gave everyone in the FB group the same password to watch the content. I just didn’t know at the time that there were online platforms that would handle all the tech stuff for me!

    But even doing almost everything wrong, I still brought in 55 students at $297 each ($16,335 in revenue). So, I knew there was a need.

    That happened right before Amy launched Digital Course Academy. So when I found out about her program, I joined instantly because I knew I wanted a “do-over” on my course launch.

    But of course, I had some fears. I was worried that if I upped the ante (so to speak) and charged more, that people wouldn’t buy. I also worried about looking like all the other cheese balls on the internet with their high-pressure webinar tactics.

    Turns out, I didn’t have to worry about either!

    My next launch brought in 93 new students at $397 each (some paid more with installments), and I STILL didn’t do everything right! In fact, I have a whole list of strategies that Amy teaches to use the next time around to make my third launch even bigger and better.

    Knowing what I know now, I would have paid double what I paid for DCA and I still would have quickly made my money back AND MORE!

    My husband and I have 5 kids that are all under 8 years old with my youngest only 8 months old…. and all of them have been out of diapers by the time they were walking.

    Why? Because every year, 27 billion diapers that will take 500 years to biodegrade are stuffed into our landfills. Not so bueno for the environment. On top of that, our babies aren’t given an option of self-control, independence, confidence, self-esteem and dignity because we were all given this wrong message—that babies need diapers.

    Can you tell I’m passionate about this topic?

    That’s why I wrote an eBook about Elimination Communication called Go Diaper Free in 2010. And it started a “movement”—no pun intended. ;-)

    The book turned into mini-courses and a coaching program where moms can teach Elimination Communication to the parents in their community. Out of that grew a product line of tiny cloth undies and tiny potties to provide the supplies these moms needed.

    Then, as I kept getting approached by moms saying, “I’m envious and jealous. I really want to do what you’re doing. I don’t want to go back to work. How do you make money when you’re with sick kids all week?”…

    I decided to create another business called MamaWorx that teaches moms how to make passive income online so they can stay home with their babies.

    But running three successful businesses when you have a husband and 5 kids at home would be nearly IMPOSSIBLE if I took the advice of the hustle, hustle, grind, grind gurus out there. Instead, I needed to reach more people with less effort. I need to be around MORE for my kids, not less.

    I first started with following her detailed steps laid out in the course.

    I was BLOWN away to see that 67% of my registrants were showing up live to my webinars. Especially considering that these are moms of YOUNG babies.

    On top of that, between 10-20% of them are buying my $397 program—DOUBLING what I earned per customer before I did webinars. And that’s on the LIVE webinar!! Even more sales come in post-webinar replay and follow-up sequence.

    Between all three businesses, I generated net revenue of $500,000 last year!

    That’s crazy considering I started with 70 people on my email list in 2011 and I didn’t even know what webinars were. Now, my list is 41,000 and growing about 70-80 every day.

    Right now, I work about 3-4 hours a day and the days that one of my kids needs me, I don’t work at all. Because here’s the thing: my family functions because of passive income.

    On top of these businesses changing our lives though, I get to witness the impact on tens of thousands of other families every day. When I get an Instagram message that says I’ve literally changed someone’s life OR a woman walks up to me at a festival and says, “You don’t know me, but I know you. We just traveled here from Seattle with a 10- month old and you’ve changed our lives,” that makes me cry. It’s so special to me.

    Everyone wants to have an impact on their community and to me, that’s my fellow moms. Amy has taught me how to reach SO many more women than I would have on my own, and together, we’re changing the world!

    I was raised to not believe in entrepreneurship or to dream too big when it comes to what’s possible for my life. As an adult, and a single mother of 3 kids, I was told to just get a “real” job multiple times. Thank goodness I didn’t listen.

    I started my baking business in 2012 and held in-person classes that did really well. My most popular one? How To Make Caramel Apples. My students begged me for an online version that they could watch over and over again, but when I saw that online baking courses only sold for $10 or $15 each, I had no interest in creating one.

    My followers kept pushing me though, they told me they didn’t care if I charge more than anyone else. They’d pay $200 for the online course—which is what I was charging for the in-person classes.

    Around that same time, Amy launched Digital Course Academy, and at first I told myself I didn’t have the money. Luckily I realized that thought was just the limited thinking I was raised with and that investing in myself and my business was the only way that it would grow.

    It’s not the same to watch YouTube videos for free. It’s just not. When you invest in a course, the teacher gives you all the knowledge they’ve learned and they’re saving you from making all the mistakes they’ve made.

    With that in mind, I signed up for Digital Course Academy minutes before the cart closed in Jan 2019. By May, I launched my $200 online caramel apple course. I told myself I’d be happy with 100 students, but I secretly thought that was wishful thinking…100 is a lot of students.

    By day 2 of my launch, I had MORE than 100 students and by cart close, I had 313.

    That’s a $62,600 launch from a list of 2,600 teaching how to make caramel apples!

    My mind has exploded! I believe in myself in ways that I never have before, and now I’m seeing (and believing) all that’s possible for my life and my kid’s lives.

    $62k is more money than I’ve ever made in one year in my entire life! And now, I’m going to launch that same course again to the same list and make even more sales with a lot less work.     When I was growing up, we were very poor… sometimes we would only have cornbread to eat. When I was eight years old, my mom gave me an etiquette book, and told me that if I learned these skills, I could go anywhere and do anything. So that’s what I did.

    We were both super busy women with multiple businesses already. Individually, we each own multi 6 figure physical product businesses and together, we own The Product Boss where we sell high-level masterminds and group coaching programs for physical product entrepreneurs.

    So, things were going great, but we wanted more. We wanted to have 1 business that hit 7-figures/year on it’s own. And to do that, we needed to transition from group coaching to online courses.

    The truth though is that we heard about Amy Porterfield and Digital Course Academy before we had even decided we wanted to launch a course. We ended up joining the academy on a whim! And the only reason we launched a course is because we loved the academy so much.

    Originally, our goal was to just make our investment back. We weren’t sure if a course would work in our niche. Physical product business owners are already spending so much money on inventory, product costs, etc… We weren’t sure if they would buy a course.

    So, Minna’s goal was to make 4 course sales. Jacqueline’s goal was 10. Instead, we beat that and sold 47!!

    That was with a list of under 1,000 people and BEFORE the course even existed. We just told people there would be a delay before they even got access to the videos because we hadn’t created them yet. (What’s funny is that we basically sold them an outline!)

    Then, we decided to do an extra promo push for Minna’s birthday the next week and we sold another 7! This was while Jacqueline ended up being rushed into emergency gall bladder surgery and Minna was on her birthday vacation.

    All in all, we made $27,538 from our first launch with a list of 1,150 total subscribers before the course even existed—with no advertising whatsoever!

    We recorded the videos in 2 weeks and then handed it off to a new team we hired while we traveled to Thailand and Japan. Seven months ago, we had NO IDEA any of this would happen!

    And without Amy and DCA, I don’t know if our 7-figure/year dream would be possible, but now… it looks like we’ll cross that goal off the list next year!
