How She Built a Team of 150 AI Employees Without Letting Anyone Go
Look at your to-do list right now. How much of what's on it could be done by something that isn't you? My guest this week, Callan Faulkner, has 30 people on her team and 150 AI employees, and she hasn't let a single person go to make room for them.
Three years ago Callan was sitting at her kitchen table with about an hour of energy in her a day. She'd walked away from a profitable land-investing business to follow the thing her soul was begging for, which turned out to be teaching people how to use AI. That one hour a day is the whole origin story. She couldn't build a company the old way, so she leaned on AI to compress the work, and what she created ended up 100 times more successful than anything she'd done before. Her last launch did $2.2 million. This one did $19.5 million.
So what is an AI employee? It's an AI, a Claude skill or an agent, that owns a piece of your business, a task or a whole outcome, and does it as well as or better than a person. Callan’s company runs 30 humans and 150 of these AI employees side by side. That ratio isn't as wild as it sounds anymore. Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, has said his company runs around 100 AI agents for every human employee, and that the IT department of the future will look more like an HR department for AI. The one-person business doing the work of ten has become one of the defining stories of 2026.
A 2026 Lean In survey found women are 22% less likely than men to be regular AI users at work, and 32% more likely to worry they'll be seen as cheating for using it. Callan sees the root of it every day in her audience, which is more than 85% women. So much of our worth is tied up in effort, in how long something took and how much we carried ourselves, and handing that work to an AI can feel like getting away with something. In this episode she reframes that story and walks you through the first AI employee you should build this week, so you can stop spending yourself on work a machine should own.
