I'm an online marketing expert and New York Times bestselling author who helps entrepreneurs like you build online businesses.

I tanked my webinar (and did this next)

September 16, 2025

Picture this: Tony Robbins’ very first webinar. Sixteen years ago. He’d never done one. I’d never done one.

Eight hundred paying students were lined up to join the next morning (yep, paid… rare back then).

The night before, Tony and I were practicing.

He wrapped up, said, “See you tomorrow,” and was about to log off.

I clicked a button to shut things down… and instead, I deleted the entire webinar. 🤢

Within seconds, every single paying student got an email: “This webinar has been canceled.

Tony’s screen flashed the same message, and he asked, “Amy, why am I seeing this?” My heart dropped.

From 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., I stayed in the office, crying, panicking, and begging the platform’s support desk to help me piece it back together. 🚨

Somehow, by morning, we saved it. But I swear I lost a year of my life that night.

Fast forward: my first solo webinar was also a disaster.

I forgot the URL for my sales page. Nobody could buy. Zero sales. 😳

In that moment, I thought about quitting webinars altogether.

But here’s the truth: your first attempts aren’t proof that you’re bad at something.

They’re just reps. 💪🏻

The baby who falls while trying to walk doesn’t decide she’s not “cut out for walking.” Neither should you.

So if there’s something you’ve written off as “not for me” because the first few tries were messy, go back.

Try again.

That thing might unlock everything 🔐, like webinars did for me.

And speaking of webinars… I’ve come a long way. 🙋🏻‍♀️

I’ve got one coming up that’s pure value and zero panic-button moments (fingers crossed).

Inbox Gold: The Email Subject Line Formulas That Work 🥇

I’ve developed a bit of a healthy obsession with subject lines.

Every week I’m testing, tweaking, and studying what makes people actually click.

Because if no one opens your email, the value inside doesn’t matter.

Lately, I’ve spotted some solid formulas that are working like a charm (think: high open rates!), and I want to pull back the curtain so you can tweak them and make them your own.

📍Subject Line: Slack confessions, launch hacks, and my new AI obsession

Why it works: We've learned from past newsletter clicks that our newsletter subscribers are interested in AI articles. If you bring learnings from what your subscribers are clicking on into the subject line, it can help with performance.

📍Subject Line: Dang! This launch strategy should be illegal

Why it works: We put a shocking word at the beginning of the subject line to grab their attention. What we've learned is that spicier subject lines are working best for the newsletter.

📍Subject Line: Too many margaritas led to this business lesson…

Why it works:  This subject line grabs attention by blending a playful, relatable scenario with the promise of a meaningful takeaway. The casual storytelling hook makes the reader curious about how a fun moment turned into a business insight.

These formulas aren’t meant to be copied word-for-word, but instead to spark ideas you can run with.

Play with tone, test your own twists, and watch what grabs attention in your audience.

The takeaway? Test, test, test. Be intentional with your subject lines.

The more curious and playful you get with them, the more eyeballs you’ll land on that value-packed content.

Data You Can Actually Use

Here’s what’s worth your brain space this week. 🧠

#1: Make More Money Via Customer Support?
Your customer support team just might be your secret marketing weapon. This article shows how bridging the gap between support and marketing can boost loyalty and revenue in ways you don’t want to miss. Click for a 2-minute read.

#2: Do You Take Health Advice on Social?
Let’s be real… most people don’t fully trust health advice on social media (and can you blame them?). TikTok may technically “win,” but with only 40% of users buying what they hear, the real win is wide open for brands that show up with trustworthy, credible content. Check out this surprising graphic.

The Fear That’s Costing You More Than Money ❌

What if you pour months into creating a course… and it flops?

That’s the #1 fear I hear from my aspiring course creators.

But here’s the truth: the real waste isn’t doing it wrong… it’s not doing it at all.

In this episode, I’ll show you how to quiet that fear, start with a simple minimum viable course, and use what you already have so you’re never starting from scratch.

🎧 Listen in and see how to de-risk your first (or next) course launch.

The Digital Calendar That Saved My Marriage 🗓️

“You never told me that.” My husband’s all-time favorite line.

Did I remind him 10 times we had dinner plans? Yes. Did he swear I never said a word? Also yes.

It got so bad, I dragged the whole thing into marriage counseling.

Our therapist kindly pointed out that maybe I think I told him… but never actually did. Rude.

So instead of fighting a losing battle, I found the fix: the Skylight Calendar

It sits on the counter in our kitchen, syncs every calendar in one spot, and keeps us both honest.

The best part? No more “You didn’t tell me that.” Ever. 🏆

And if you’ve got kids with practices, games, and activities flying at you from every direction, this thing is pure gold.

Thank me later.

Nice chat. Let’s do it again next week!

Until then, revisit that thing you think you failed at, rework your subject lines and consider buying a digital cal if your partner has selective hearing.
