The Sorting Exercise That Makes Your Next Hire Obvious
I was making millions and still editing my own training videos in ScreenFlow. For years. I was fast at it and I was saving money, which is exactly how I justified hoarding work someone else should have owned. I still regret it.
If you're wondering when to hire an operations manager, you can't answer that until you can see your own work. Right now it's all just “the business,” one pile in your head where everything blends together. A Time etc survey found US entrepreneurs give more than a third of their week to administrative tasks. The sorting exercise in this episode pulls that pile apart, and your only-I-can-do-this column always comes out smaller than it felt.
Then I get specific about who takes the rest. I break down virtual assistant versus operations manager versus integrator, because founders confuse those three constantly. I cover what the hire runs and why most of that money is already leaving your account in scattered contractor payments. You'll get the one-word trick for your job listing that separates the people who read it from the people mass-applying, and the interview question that tells you whether someone takes ownership before they've touched a thing.
Below the half-million mark, this hire is what you're growing toward. Go back to your columns, pick the task costing you the most hours or the most energy, and hand it off this week. I already know the thought coming the second you try. It's faster if I just do it myself. Doing it yourself buys you twenty minutes today and charges you those same twenty minutes every single week from now on.
RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:
- You're a multi-six-figure female founder with a coaching, course, or membership business, so you've already proven the model works. But your revenue stays unpredictable because your offer, your messaging, and your lead gen are each built partway, and no amount of effort makes up the difference. My Live Free Training shows you which one is costing you the most right now. Save your spot.
