Today's Lineup:
- Is desperation scaring your buyers away? 🧟
- There’s a reason I call Hobie “two scoops” 😉
- My ridiculous recommendation you didn't know you needed 💁♀️
It wasn’t working. She'd been trying to fix it for 6 months. Nothing changed.
More bonuses. A shorter, 12-minute version of the webinar. New creative for her ads. A whole new sequence to win back the no-shows.
She had run this thing on evergreen for almost two years. It built her entire business.
And now, six months into a slump with show-up rates and conversions both sliding, she was throwing everything she had at it.
So I stopped her.
“You are operating from desperate energy,” I told her. “And it is going to show up in everything you put out there.”
I didn't mean she was desperate. I meant that “I’m freaking out! This isn't working, what do I do?!” feeling was starting to take over the ship.
Because that feeling never stays put. It leaks into your subject lines. Your sales page. The tone of every email you send.
Your audience can always feel it. And it pushes away the exact people you're trying to attract.
I've watched this play out at this exact stage for years. When revenue dips, we don't slow down. We speed up. More offers, more testing, more pivoting.
Because we read it as failure, when really, it’s just information.
The founders who come through hard seasons best are those who don't let a business problem become an identity problem.
Her webinar was struggling. She was not.
So I told her the thing she needed more than any funnel fix.
“Remember who you are. You have created a multi-six-figure business. Something most people will never do. You are a badass.”
You cannot write copy that pulls people in from a place of fear. You cannot make a clear decision from a place of panic.
So before you touch the funnel, do the unglamorous first step. Take your hands off your MacBook for a sec and take a deep breath. Remember who you were before this got hard.
Finding her again helps you find the right way forward.
My Husband Just Beat Me At My Own Job 🤦🏻♀️
Over the weekend, I tried to teach my husband, Hobie, how to film B-roll.
It did not go well. The man cannot keep a straight face the second a camera turns on.
What was supposed to be a clean little tutorial turned into this…

So I posted it anyway.
And here is the part that stings a little: it outperformed almost all of my actual teaching content this week. I put in all that work just to be beaten by my husband shaking his 🍑 for the camera.
But it tracked, because so many people saw themselves in it and said so.
So here’s the reminder to take from my bruised ego: letting people into your world is not a break from the work. It is the work.
So show the behind-the-scenes, your real personality (or your partners!).
Don’t be afraid to exist outside the “expert” role a little. That builds trust.
Your dare this week: post one thing that is not your usual teaching posts. Show a little more of you. See what happens.
My Heatless Curlers Obsession
My girlfriends are officially sick of me talking about this. So naturally, I brought it to you instead.
And I get it. A newsletter recommendation about curlers is ridiculous. But it might be the one you actually thank me for, so here we are.
While we lived in Nashville, I had a standing Drybar appointment every single week. Walk in, walk out, hair done, zero effort from me. 💅
Then we moved to the lake house while our house gets built, and friend, there is not a Drybar within striking distance out here. 😱
So I taught myself to do my own blowout.
Out comes the Dyson, and then the thing I will not shut up about: heatless curlers (these are my fav). I put them in at night and sleep in them like that's a completely normal way to exist. 🤷🏻♀️
Does Hobie give me the side eye when I climb into bed looking like that? Every single time. Is he a fan? Absolutely not. Worth it.
I keep them in through my morning workout too (home gym, nobody sees me, it's a vibe).
Then I pull them out, and I'm ready in five minutes flat. Five. No heat, no fried ends, no fuss.

Before, during, and after below. Don't say I never give you the BTS. You're welcome. 🤣
Nice chat! Let’s do it again next week.
Until then, stop taking your show-up rate personally, post the blooper even if you swear (especially if you swear 😂), and thanks for letting me pretend to be an influencer.
Amy
P.S. My husband was a firefighter saving lives while I was out-earning him by a lot. One day, our CPA said his income was irrelevant to our taxes. Let's just say… feelings were had. Hobie and I get into all of that in this week's episode: the money, the egos, and the practice that turned us into a genuine team. Listen here 🎧
