Let’s get real: almost everything I was scared of when I started my business… happened.
✔️ I was afraid I’d lose friends.
And I did.
One of them pulled away when my business started gaining traction. She was building a business too, but I was ahead. The comparison quietly ate away at her, and one day the texts just stopped.
Another friend told me I was “obsessed” with my new business and then mocked me for doing photoshoots. She said, “What are you, a Kardashian now?” It stung.
We used to be close.
The more I went for it, the more I became “too much” for people who once cheered me on.
✔️ I was afraid I’d be awkward on video.
And I was.
One time, I accidentally left a recording running, pulled up my bank account for all to see, and had what I thought was a private convo with my assistant. It was very much not private. Mortifying. 🤦🏻♀️
✔️ I was afraid I’d mess up my taxes.
And I did.
After my first full year out of my 9-to-5, I had no idea how to track taxes. Turns out I owed money I didn’t have.
I panicked. And then borrowed $ from my parents. Humiliating.
✔️ I was afraid people would say mean things online.
And they did.
Some guy said I looked like a man in drag. Another called me fat and said no one would take me seriously. I wanted to crawl under a rock.
✔️ I was afraid my first launch would tank.
And it did.
I made $267 in profit. I sold a few courses but spent thousands to get there.
Oh, and one time I raised my price to $997, sold just one course on a webinar, panicked, refunded the customer, and dropped the price back down instantly. A complete disaster. ‼️
And yet… here I am.
$120 million later. A business I love. A life that’s mine.
If you’re scared, messing up, or feel like you’re the only one fumbling through, you’re not.
You’re normal. This is what it looks like.
Your job isn’t to avoid the mistakes.
Your job is to keep going.
The business you want is on the other side of the stuff you’re afraid will break you.
Spoiler ‼️
It won’t.
I went first, now it’s your turn! When you started your business, what was one thing you were (and maybe still are?) afraid of happening?

The Group Chat That Pays Off 💰
Friend to friend, I think you need to start a group chat where you talk real numbers. Not to compare, but to normalize the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
Find 2 or 3 biz friends who are willing to share their numbers with full honesty. Revenue. Launches. The promo that crushed. The webinar that bombed. All of it.
When I hit my first million, I shared it on my podcast. My friend Brooke Castillo heard it and thought, “Wait, that’s possible?”
She got to work, and now she’s built a massive multi-million dollar business. I shared what I did and it made it feel doable.
Start the chat. Share your numbers. Normalize the journey.
You’ll feel less alone, way more motivated, and who knows? You might be the one who helps your friend hit her next big milestone.
The 30-Minute CEO Money Check ✅ (That Won’t Break Your Brain)
And speaking of money, are you doing your own monthly money check-ins?
Money check-ins do not need to feel like tax season in June. This is about building your CEO habit, not becoming an accountant.
Here’s your simple plan to review your numbers every month in 30 minutes or less.
Step 1: Grab Your P&L 💵
If you have a bookkeeper, great.
If not, your Stripe and business bank account can give you a simple monthly snapshot.
Step 2: Ask These 5 Quick Questions ❓
- How much revenue came in this month? Which offers drove the most?
- What were my total expenses? Am I still loving where that money went?
- How much profit was left after expenses?
- Are my cash reserves still healthy in case I hit a slow month?
- Do I have any big expenses coming up I need to prep for?
Step 3: Troubleshoot Gently 🔨
If you’re off your revenue goal, don’t panic. Ask:
- Is this a temporary dip or part of a bigger pattern?
- Is it a traffic problem, conversion issue, or messaging gap?
- Can I optimize what I already have instead of building something new?
That’s it. Rinse, repeat, adjust as you go. This is how you stop winging your revenue and start running your business like a million-dollar CEO.
Building the Dream (Pygmy Goats Included 🐐)
Come on in, friend. I thought it would be fun to bring you along for the ride as Hobie and I build our forever home. 🏠
This has been one of those big, pinch-me dreams sitting on my vision board for years, and now it's actually happening.
We found 70 peaceful acres just outside Nashville in Leipers Fork. The views are gorgeous, the vibe is peaceful, and yes, Hobie already convinced me to say yes to pygmy goats and miniature highland cows.
I have no idea what I’m getting myself into, but here we are.🤷🏻♀️
And because you know I never miss a good design moment, I’m working with Studio McGee to bring the inside of the house to life. Dream team status.
If you’re a little bit nosey like me when it comes to home design, I’m sharing my mood board below so you can get a peek at the vibe we’re going for.

We’re leaning a little moodier this time because we’re in the woods and honestly… it just feels right. More to come!
Until then, start the money group chat, consider some pygmy goats, and remind yourself that messy is just part of millionaire math.
