Last October, I let go of 9 people on my team.
Not because of money problems.
Not because they werenât great.
Not because I was slowing down.
I let them go because the business had become too complicated.
Too many projects. Too many issues. Too many priorities pulling us in too many directions.
So I made the hardest decision of my business life:
I simplified.
We trimmed our revenue goals, rethought our launch calendar, and restructured the team to go deeper, not wider.
The morning we let 9 team members go, I felt physically sick.
The night after it was over, I barely slept.
In my head, I spiraled. What if they thought I took this lightly? Like this decision erased everything theyâd contributed?
What if theyâd hate me forever? That Iâd made a big mistake?
Then this weekend, I got a text.
Two of those women were meeting up. They sent me a photo: drinks in hand, huge smiles.
âLove you, Amy! Virtual cheers!â
One is now working with a good friend of mine who adores her. Sheâs in the perfect role for her talents.
The other started her own agency and is thriving in ways she never could have without branching out on her own.
And thatâs when it hit me:
I thought I was ruining everything.
But really⊠I was just making space.
For them.
For me.
For whatâs next.
So if youâre feeling pulled to simplify, to do less but do it better, maybe thatâs not a step back. Maybe itâs the smartest thing you can do.
Simplifying doesnât mean giving up.
It means youâre finally leading with clarity. And that is always a power move.
Are you in a season of simplifying? Or holding on to too much?
Hot Take of the Week đ¶ïž
Need more content for social, but your schedule's tighter than Rossâs leather pants on Friends?
Grab a transcript from one of your best podcast episodes, a lead magnet thatâs been quietly collecting digital dust, or that old webinar you forgot was actually brilliant, and pop it into ChatGPT.
Then say, âHey friend, turn this into an IG carousel post that people actually want to read.â
Boom. Instant content.
I did this with an interview I recorded with my friend Jay Schwedelson, and what came out?

Click to check out pure carousel magic. đ«
Want a peek inside our team Slack?
When weâre not swapping dog pics, debating Real Housewives story arcs, or arguing over how many exclamation points are too many (I say two!! max), weâre celebrating you.
Weâve got a channel called #WINS, and every time a student shares a big or tiny victory, we post it, celebrate it, and throw up a confetti emoji storm that would make Canva jealous.
This week? All eyes were on Melissa.
She filled up a masterclassâŠwith a teeny-tiny email list. Like, âyou could count them on your fingers,â tiny.

Takeaway?
Stop waiting. Start moving.
Even if only 5 people show up.
Even if youâre not âready.â
Even if your email list is basically your mom and your dogâs groomer.
Action gives you data. Data gives you momentum.
So whatâs that one thing youâve been stalling on?
I triple-dog dare you to hit publish, send the invite, or show up messy.
You never know whoâs waiting for exactly what youâve got.

My 3 Guilty Pleasures (Donât judge… unless yours are worse) đ
Ok, hereâs the deal: If Iâm going to keep showing up in your inbox with mildly embarrassing, sometimes cringey, often way-too-honest confessions, I need you to meet me halfway. Deal?
So Iâm sharing my 3 guilty pleasures. Youâve gotta share with at least one of your own. Iâm already dying to read it. Donât leave me hanging!
Diet Coke. đ„€
I know. I KNOW. Itâs basically battery acid with bubbles, but I love it (sometimes, not always!) Itâs not my fault, Iâm an 80s kid. Back then, moms drank Diet Coke like it was medicine. Itâs in my DNA. Iâve tried to quit her, but sheâs just so deliciously deceptive.
TikTok Scrolling. đ±
I tell Hobie itâs âmarket researchâ but itâs really just me watching Trad Wives organize their pantries or strangers crying in their cars while whispering âItâs Storytime.â Itâs just so messy and unhinged!
True Crime Podcasts. đ”
There is something wildly comforting about listening to a soothing voice describe a highly suspicious cold case while I build out a new Asana project like, âInteresting⊠body found in a locked freezer⊠definitely need to add that nurture sequence to this launch.â Itâs dark and deranged and I love it.
Good chat. Letâs keep meeting like this, I kinda like it.
In the meantime, simplify something, sip the Diet Coke, and maybe donât listen to murder podcasts while building funnels. đ
