You’re more interesting than you used to be

May 5, 2026

Today's Lineup:

  • You’re better than your current bio (and it’s confusing people) ✂️
  • Are things actually… working out fine? 🙂‍↕️
  • Stop convincing people to buy 🛒 (an alternative, for your consideration)
  • My skincare holy grail 🏆

Friday night. I walked past the bathroom mirror with no makeup, hair piled up, and stopped.

My skin looked good. Like, realllly good. Plump… all lit up.

I knew exactly why.

There's this 10-minute mask I've been using, and I’m obsessed with it.

If I were a skincare influencer, this would be my holy grail. The product I'd mention in every Reel. I'd put it in my Amazon storefront, my Instagram bio, Scout's bio. I'd be insufferable.

But I'm not a skincare influencer. I'm a business educator. (But I’ll still link to it a little later 🙌🏻)

The reason this mask works is exfoliation. It lifts the dead layer. The plump, youthful-looking skin underneath was already there. The mask just removed what was sitting on top of it.

(Here’s my clunky segue, but it gets good…. keep reading.)

Your business has a layer like that, too.

📍The work you do today is sharper than it was a year ago.
📍The way you think about your clients is different.
📍What you're best at has evolved.

However… your business hasn't caught up.

Your About page describes a version of you from 18 months ago.
Your main opt-in teaches something you've half-outgrown.
The bio that auto-populates across your platforms still leads with what used to be the most interesting thing about you.

None of it is technically wrong. But that's what makes it sneaky.

That’s your old-business-skin buildup.

So here's what I'd do this week. Choose one area. Just one.

Read it like a stranger would. Ask: Is this who I am now, or who I was when I wrote it?

If it's the second one, that's your dead layer.

Scrub up the old stuff. The good stuff is underneath.

Worry Too Much? Same 🙋🏻‍♀️

I read this and thought… “I mean, she’s not wrong.”

Thought you might need this reminder today, too!

Convincing vs Inviting 💌

Most launches feel like work because you're trying to convince.

The magic happens when you stop convincing and start inviting.

Convincing starts from zero each time.

Inviting starts with people who already know.

They've been listening, reading, showing up for you long before you opened the cart. The launch becomes a doorway.

If your last one felt like pulling teeth, look upstream.

You likely weren’t building trust early enough.

Start making them now, in this week's content, this month's emails, the next live training that connects you with people who haven't yet decided you're for them.

This is the whole conversation on this week's podcast, including the three places trust gets built (or doesn't) before anyone sees your sales page. Listen here →

My Influencer Era (The Exfoliating Edition)

Okay, I KNOW you scrolled down for this part!

Plump, glassy skin doesn’t just happen. We gotta work for it. Here are my three faves for getting your skin there.

🧴 Anua Heartleaf 77 Clear Pad

Start here if you've never used acids on your face. Mild enough that I keep handing them to friends who say, “I can't use acids.” (You can. You just need these.) I do these once a week.

🌹 Then I Met You Rosé Resurfacing Facial Mask

This is the one. The one. The Scout's-bio one. Real rose petals in the jar that you can actually see, which I find delightful for reasons unknown. Once a week. Worth every minute.

💆🏻‍♀️ Exuviance Performance Peel AP25

When you want to feel like you went to the best facialist without spending the big bucks. I use these on weeks my skin needs a refresh, so, maybe monthly?

Nice chat! Let’s do it again next week.

Until then, update the version of you that your business is still clinging to, stop spiraling over things that might not need fixing, trade convincing for inviting, and don’t skip the exfoliant. 🫧

Amy

P.S. I exceeded my coaching program launch goal by over 300%. And I didn’t even use a sales page. I don’t know ANYONE working on the exact thing that did all the work for this launch, so I broke down everything in this week's episode. Listen here →

In the last 16 years, I've quit my job, started and scaled my own business to $120 million, become a New York Times Best Selling Author, and taught over 100,000 students how to build a business they love. I've learned more than a thing or two and The Amy Porterfield Show is where I get to open my playbook, yearbook, and entrepreneurial diary to share them with you!
