I signed up for beauty school when I turned 30 with a big goal in mind… I wasn’t JUST going to stand behind a chair 5 days a week; I wanted to be an educator!

In March of 2020, I signed a lease for my very own suite (talk about timing!!), and then I quickly realized that the Covid lockdown in California was not going away anytime soon… so I decided to start a mobile salon.

As I was building up my clientele, I discovered Amy’s podcast and got very intrigued about online courses. (Email lists? You can make money selling courses? Maybe I can try!)

So I signed up for Digital Course Academy, followed the initial steps, and started doing live trainings to build an audience and my email list.

I immediately went from 0 to 350 subscribers! (And now I’m at 650!) This felt like a huge win right from the start!

As I got into the program, I was so scared about the tech. But Amy makes it so simple with easy-to-follow steps. You just do exactly what she says and then wonder why you were ever worried about it in the first place.

I also really valued the accountability pods. They helped me find support and not feel alone as I was on this new course creator journey! It was such a beautiful, safe space that connected me to so many different types of people.

Toward the end of the program, I got Covid, and I was unable to be behind the chair because I lost the feeling in both my hands. But I would not let this get me down. Even though I wasn’t ready to launch my course just yet, I now had new knowledge on to make money and wanted to apply it!

You see, DCA is more than just about digital courses. You learn so much about building a business and marketing that can be applied to any type of business model.

With what I learned in DCA, I was able to help my husband – who also owns his own business as a tile contractor – increase his revenue to multiple 6 figures while I was unable to work!

At the same time, I was experimenting with Pinterest and found a way to make money through their affiliate program. And that’s when my first course idea was born!

This entry-level course is evergreen and consistently sells on my website. And even though I am able to cut hair again, my course sales now allow me to work less behind the chair – just 2 days a week.

This also has freed up my time so I can be more present for my kids. And I was even able to take an opportunity as a Pinterest TV host. (And I love it!)

Everyone’s journey is different, and this is my unique journey. Success is measured in your own terms, and I have personally grown so much as a business owner and a person, thanks to DCA!
