Listen on…
Consistent content is the cornerstone of every successful online business.
You and I both know how much time it takes to create a really stellar piece of content, right? Hours, if not days, to create something that we want to wow our audiences with. We hit publish and put it out into the world and it just stays in that one location. Next, we're moving on to create our next piece of content.
Now, hold on! Not so fast. There's so much more that can be done with that masterpiece you just created.
Today I'm going to demonstrate how you can consistently take one piece of content and repurpose it ten different ways so that that one piece of content will have a much broader reach and you will have the ability to grow your audience at a much quicker and consistent pace.
So if you're ready to leverage your content to work as hard for you as you did to create it, today's show is a must-listen. Repurposing your content should become part of your content creation process. I don't consider content repurposing as a nice-to-have system in my business. I see it as a must.
Here are the 10 ways I listed for repurposing a podcast episode:
- Record Audio and Video simultaneously
- Transcribe the podcast audio
- Create show notes for the episode
- Take snippets from outline, transcripts, and show notes to craft an email
- Pull out quotes for graphics
- Create social media posts
- Select a juicy audio clip and use Wavve to turn it into a highlight video
- Using the show notes, transcript, and email, create an article to share on Medium
- Create a freebie based on the content
- Create a few frequently asked questions
Which are you going to try first?
- [07:49] When you record your podcast audio, make a video recording for extra mileage. Works best for interviews.
- [11:10] Transcribe the podcast audio. Link to the transcript from your website show notes on its own page. This is great for SEO!
- [14:26] Take snippets from the outline, transcripts, or show notes and craft an email that will notify subscribers about your new podcast episode. This is a great way to share your weekly content with your email subscribers.
- [16:57] Pull out really good quotes or stats that can be turned into graphics.
- [17:41] Now that you have the show notes, email copy, and great quotes and stats — pull from those to create great social media posts.
- [18:48] Select a really juicy audio clip and use Wavve to turn it into a video highlight to promote your episode on social media.
- [19:46] Take the content you created and format it into an article on Medium.com or guest post on someone else's blog.
- [20:51] Create a freebie. Take the content and make a checklist, worksheet, or guide. You can use it to build your list and promote your content.
- [22:30] Use parts of your content as an answer to frequently asked questions. When the same questions come up time and time again, and you've already covered it, use that existing content to add to your website or course FAQ area.
- [24:34] It's all about video. This can be really valuable when you make the effort. Take your transcript and highlight sections that you could do a quick video about.
- [27:58] Bonus twist. Pay attention to what resonates with your audience. The intel you uncover can become a new piece of content.
