Five years ago, I started my business helping introverted non-native speakers learn to communicate confidently in English. I’d been teaching English as a second language since 1996, and as a military wife who moved frequently, I needed a business that I could do from anywhere. That’s how I got started working one-on-one tutoring people online.

There’s a limit to how many people you can teach, working as a private online tutor, so I was always thinking about ways to scale so I could grow my income. I knew I wanted to start some kind of school eventually, and in 2016 I did when I launched my course, Fluency School!

There was one big problem still: Because of the way I designed the course, I could only accept a limited number of students. It got to the point where whenever I launched, the course would sell out in a few hours. While that was awesome, I wanted to help more people still. I just didn’t know how to scale without sacrificing quality.
