How Much to Spend on Ads, and Where 95% of It Should Go
Every business you're watching win right now is paying to be found.
17 years in business, and I've paid for ads every single one of them. I've watched women wear “I've never paid for ads” like a badge of honor, while the money sat on the table.
Ashley Brock has managed over $200 million in ad spend. Her whole model is teaching founders to run their own ads in-house.
Her floor is $1,000 a month, running for 90 days before you judge it. She sees founders spending $380 a month wondering why nothing's happening. At that budget, the algorithm never gets enough data to learn who's buying.
Before you pause anything, she tracks micro actions from add-to-cart through the thank-you page. $1,000 spent, zero purchases, 72 initiated checkouts? One step away. Same spend, four add-to-carts? Turn it off.
She started this business in December 2022. Watched me post about taking my team to Mexico, four times, then told her own team hitting $5M meant a trip. They hit $7M. Went to Greece instead.
She also sat in a room of seven- and eight-figure founders at a Hormozi workshop where nobody knew their numbers either. Worth hearing if you've been avoiding your ads manager because you're embarrassed by what's in it.
Her line for anyone stuck: indecision is a prison. You gain traction when you take action.
We go deep on all of it, the settings, the numbers, the column to watch before you pause an ad.
