I’ve been a family photographer for ten years.
It’s an industry with a high failure rate, because artists tend to focus on their art and not their business. BUT I learned early on that following the advice of people who had been there and knew how to make it work was the key to success. (And that’s exactly what I did!)
Three years ago, my circumstances changed. My marriage of 14 years was ending, and even though my business was thriving, I knew I needed to figure out a way to scale the work I did if I was going to be able to meet my new set of needs as a single parent.
So I figured out a way to automate the sales process where I am now earning as much money per session as I was before, except now in a small fraction of the time. Just that first year, my income went up over 30% and I found myself with time to focus on my kids and my new living situation!
The online gallery software I was using to run my system noticed my high sales averages and pitched me to help them create an app for other photographers teaching them my method. (That was exciting, but I knew that because my system was a brand new concept, most people would struggle to take advantage of the app without more education and support.)
I could see that this instead was an amazing opportunity to create an online course, but there was just one problem: I didn’t have a clue how to set up or launch one.
So I took the plunge and enrolled in Digital Course Academy®️ last fall. I knew it would be tough – I had no list and balancing DCA with the demands of my busy season at work and the typical craziness of single parenting – but I promised myself that I would keep up with the course and make my investment pay off. I really start from zero because this business which is called, This Can't Be That Hard, is separate from my photography business.

I’ve since increased the price and put the course on evergreen, and have nearly doubled my sales in the last month.
