It had always been a dream of mine to study culinary arts. It took many years, but I eventually was able to become a chef and baker.

Throughout that time, I found that plenty of people would have loved to learn how to cook better, but they didn’t have the time to take rigorous pro classes!

That’s when I started teaching group cooking classes in my home on the side. Each group would come over for 4 hours per week, for 8 weeks… and they loved it!

After a while, I wanted to be able to reach more people, but I could only have so many people in my house! That’s when I started wondering how I could do this online.

But I had some concerns…

Cooking is such a sensorial experience. I specialize in teaching people the fundamentals of cooking by using salt, fat, acid, and heat. How could I explain online how it should taste or smell? How could what I was doing in my kitchen translate into a course taught online?

I also knew that putting a course together would be a lot of hard work. Because I am teaching how to cook, there was going to be a lot of high-quality video footage needed to demonstrate everything I had to teach. And I honestly did not want to invest a lot of money and time into something that I wasn’t sure would take off.

Even though I had my hesitations, I went for it anyway! (And I created my course on my own to keep costs down.)

And since I am bilingual (I am from Panama) I decided to record my course in Spanish!

I filmed everything and had it ready to go… but I didn’t know anything about launching a course. That’s when I signed up for Digital Course Academy and got to work.

Luckily I had been building a following on social media for years…

But I had never heard of doing webinars before. So I followed Amy’s 3-webinar strategy to launch my course.

The first webinar did not go well. I was soooo nervous that I answered everyone’s questions before I even pitched my course, and no one signed up.

But I wasn’t giving up.

I kept promoting my webinars on social media and by email, and by the second webinar I felt myself flow. And by the third one, it was even better.

My first launch resulted in 38 new students, which brought in just under $29,000!

My course is more expensive than most, and I was afraid that people would be turned off by the price, but as you can see I still had a successful launch!

I am thrilled by my results and am already planning my next launch.

As someone that has worked my entire life in a demanding job while simultaneously raising 4 children, it feels amazing to finally be able to work from home and create what I want! To have the time to be a mom and enjoy my kids is priceless!
