I had been climbing the academia ladder for years, teaching Italian at several universities.

And although I loved teaching Italian to my students, when COVID happened it really had me questioning if a university setting was right for me anymore.

That’s when I started exploring what it might look like to create my own courses, found the Digital Course Academy, and signed up!

DCA taught me how to take my teachings and ideas, and package them into a beautiful course.

And most importantly… DCA taught me how to sell it!

Being in front of a large audience and teaching is second nature to me.

But SELLING in front of a large audience?… Not so much!

And marketing an online course? I knew nothing.

So I buckled up and dove into DCA to find all of the answers I needed. Learning about webinars, creating a sales page, emailing content to your list…

I loved learning about ALL the pieces of marketing needed to sell my new course.

(And Amy made it so easy!)

But the BEST part of DCA is the community.

Being a part of the Facebook group in DCA and seeing how the DCA team interacted with everyone showed me firsthand the value of including a student group as part of your course AND how to lead one.

Online courses are growing in popularity because you get to learn on your own, in your own time, but people also need the sense of belonging to a community. Now I’m bringing that community aspect I experienced in DCA into my own course. (And this excites me big time!)

I launched in January with my goal of getting 30 new students to sign up.

BUT I reached that goal with just the presale!

By the end of my first launch, I had 136 new students and made over a five-figure launch!!

(And my students are already requesting more courses, so I have 2 more in the works to launch soon!)

After finishing school (receiving my Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics), the original plan was to apply for a job. But with the success of my course, I will continue working for myself.

Life as a course creator has allowed me so many more freedoms in my life, aside from my financial success. I can now visit my family in Italy whenever I want, and I’m no longer limited to only seeing them during school vacations.

As I continue to grow my business as a course creator, I am excited for my future! The possibilities feel endless.

UPDATE: Margherita launched her course for the third time in January 2023 and had a six-figure launch! Way to go, Margherita!
