Do you have questions about LinkedIn?
I get questions all the time about LinkedIn, and because I'm not an expert in the area or even a regular LinkedIn user (yet), I haven't had the answers to those questions.
But guess what? Out of 250 million monthly LinkedIn users, only 3 million of those users share weekly content (that’s less than 1%). Which means there's a lot of opportunity for us content creators!
So I sought out an expert to help us know what to include in our LinkedIn profiles that will attract our ideal customer and to understand what type of content our ideal customer is looking for on the LinkedIn platform.
I've got answers to those questions today!
On today's podcast, Viveka von Rosen is joining me. Viveka is a world-renowned LinkedIn expert, author of LinkedIn Marketing: An Hour a Day and LinkedIn: 101 Ways To Rock Your Personal Brand: Grow your network and build your business!.
She's also a personal branding expert, international keynote speaker, and has been recognized as a top LinkedIn and social media expert.
If you’re wondering about content, list building, and business to consumer marketing on LinkedIn, this episode is a must listen. Viveka addresses all your most pressing questions about how you can show up for your ideal customer in LinkedIn.
You might just be surprised to learn just who’s hanging out on LinkedIn and what simple tips you can use to make the most of your profile. Here are a few of the juicy points Viveka and I discussed.
(And keep scrolling as Viveka shares the top 4 things to focus on in your LinkedIn profile–strategies you can implement immediately!)
Key Points On Today's Podcast
- [06:08] Diving deeper in relationships is the strategy that worked for Viveka. She was also able to learn the platform inside and out, build relationships, and stay top of mind with her audience.
- [14:25] It’s simpler than you think to repurpose content on LinkedIn. Viveka has many tricks up her sleeve for this.
- [16:07] How to position yourself as a thought leader.
- [21:47] Selling is about being human and relationships. Know your audience and speak to your audience and don't worry about people self-selecting away from you.
- [27:51] The secret recipe is to share something every day and create a long-form post once a week. For the long-form post use 1200 to 1400 characters and emojis to share something of value. Shoot and upload a relevant video or PDF, PowerPoint, or infographic for 10X the number of views. Use LinkedIn messaging to create a sharing fan club.
- [33:22] A great way to get access to a B2B prospect is to interview the influencer in that company. This is how Viveka and Vengreso have been able to start the conversation for six- and seven-figure deals.
Ready to take your LinkedIn profile to the next level?
Here are Viveka’s top four tips on what to focus on in creating a LinkedIn profile that your ideal customer will pay attention to.
TIP #1: Showcase Your Brand and Company
It’s important that you let your brand be visible while keeping your profile looking clean and not cluttered.
Include a recent picture. The kind where if someone ran into you, say, at an event, they would recognize you.
TIP #2: Create an Attention-Grabbing Bio
In your bio, you have just 120 characters to grab your audience’s attention. Make this snippet about your audience and how you can help.
TIP #3: Add Snippets of Content to Your About Section
Include examples of your product that people can easily access right from your profile. This is the ‘sales page where you can present everything you have to offer (in 2,000 characters or less).
TIP #4: Utilize the Contact Info Area
When someone visits your profile, is intrigued by your branding, is hooked in by how you can help them, then they will naturally click through that ‘See contact info’ link under your bio.
Make sure the links here are current and valid!

Listener Spotlight of the Week
Um, best compliment ever. The fact that you feel like you're playing a bigger game, you're showing up when you don't actually want to some days, that is such a great habit to get into, to just keep showing up. It gets easier, I promise. So, thank you, girl. That message meant the world to me. – Amy P.
