Until 2015 I was a musician, academic, and sound researcher. Then I developed health and chronic pain issues and wasn’t able to perform my music anymore.

I was so ill that all I could do was sit on the couch all day. I couldn’t even wash my own hair. It was depressing.

I was on benefits (that were about to come to an end). And I had no idea how I was going to support myself.

I knew I had so much experience — if only I could figure out how to use it in order to save myself.

That’s when I discovered Amy… and THANK GOODNESS I did!

Hearing her talk about creating online courses got me excited, and that’s when I knew what was next for me: I could help female musicians learn about recording and releasing their own music with my course.

I help female musicians record and share their music without confusion or overwhelm so that the world no longer misses out on their amazing creative voice.

I signed up for DCA, used the program to find my niche, and with Amy’s help… Home Recording Academy was born!

I was — and still am — so committed to making this business work that I knew the next natural step for me was to join Momentum (Amy's membership program for course creators). The community and support were going to be a MUST for me when I actually launched my course. When Amy made the invitation, I was a 100% YES!

I used the Sparks Guides in Momentum to help me set up my 5-day lead generation challenge and my sales masterclass. I got tons of useful ideas and feedback from those who had used these same strategies successfully already, that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own.

With the challenge and masterclass I was able to build my mailing list from 100 subscribers to 645! This was at the beginning of the COVID lockdown, so it honestly surprised me a bit.

However, I got so much engagement with my challenge that I decided to follow my intuition and launch the beta version of the course — even though I wasn’t planning on it. The result: I made about $7k from that launch.

Then I decided to launch again with another challenge and masterclass. I did even better the second time: I converted 50% of the masterclass attendees to buy the course! That launch made $17,330 (AND I haven’t even done a full Amy-style launch yet).

Making online courses is a bit like the Wild West, but Amy shows you all the steps you need. I skipped a lotttttttttttt of headaches because Amy takes away all of the guesswork.

The other members in the Facebook group are really supportive too. It’s nice to have a place where I can post about my successes and have people who really get me and what I’m building to celebrate with me.

This might sound a bit cliche and cheesy, but it’s so amazing to see something I made change people’s lives. When past students tell me how much my course has done for them, I’m always astonished. I think to myself, “I did that! Wow!”

And as someone who has been managing illness for a decade and has been dependent on others, I can now breathe easy again, knowing that I can use my knowledge to support myself.
