For 10 years I did corporate accounting and finance for a big Coca-Cola bottler. I enjoyed it. I was good at it. But it wasn’t the most fulfilling thing in the entire world. And I worked a lot, a lot, a lot!

In fact, during our second multibillion-dollar merger, I was working 90 hours a week WHILE pregnant with my second child. (I don’t recommend that.) Especially since I was working myself out of a job. We were moving our headquarters to London during the merger, and I wouldn’t be moving with them.

So, my husband and I picked up and moved back to Nashville (where I’m from). We had the baby, and we lived off my severance money while I tried to figure out what to do.

Eventually, I started taking on clients with typical, run-of-the-mill accounting and finance services. It was through that work that I discovered a gap in my marketplace.

Women in business didn’t have very many people to turn to for important financial knowledge given from people who looked like them!

So, I started a Facebook group called Financial Literacy for Women Business Owners where I showed up LIVE once a week.

I directed those women to my email list, like Amy teaches, and in only a month and a half, I had 1,200 women in the group, 400 on my email list, and a fully booked client schedule.

By the time I took DCA and launched Financial Fitness Formula Digital Course, had over 3,000 people on my list and 4,000 people in my Facebook group.

Now, I have 20,000 people on my list and 25,000 in my group just 3 ½ months later.

This would NOT have happened without Amy’s advice at the beginning of COVID and quarantine. Her advice on thinking about how you want to show up for your people during this crisis is what inspired me to dive into all the confusing financial information of stimulus checks and PPP loans so that I could answer questions for my group.

I had actually planned on taking a step back from my business during COVID because it was right after I had a $44,000 course launch. But Amy showed me that right now, I needed to full-throttle this thing and really help my people.

So, I went live almost every single day in my group. People were unbelievably grateful to have found me. They were inviting hundreds of their friends to join. It was insanity. We were having thousands of people join a week!

People were asking for my Venmo account to give me money as a thank you for all the free advice I was giving them.

I didn’t want to take their money for my Facebook lives (especially during this time), but I realized that these women needed a crash course ASAP. So, I made and launched a 3-module course, Financial Fitness Basics, which generated $150,000 in revenue in just TWO WEEKS.

AND I only spent $500 on ads. I mean, what in the world??

What’s even cooler, though, is that I was able to give away 41 scholarships to women of color. And people even started buying the course and then sending me the money for another one to give away to a woman of color. The support was insane.

We also gave 10% of the profits to the National Urban League. That’s actually more motivating to me than anything else. Thinking about how the more I make, the more I can give, the bigger difference I can make, it’s the best gift in the world.

And just think… I was planning on taking a few months of downtime to just tidy up some of the admin work behind the scenes of my business during quarantine!

Update- Jaime launched her course for the second time in February 2021 and had a $200,000 launch! Way to go, Jamie!
