When you work in sales and marketing for 15 years, you spend all your time and energy growing someone else’s business. Someone else’s dream. Often, in a field that you’re not at all passionate about.
That’s how it was for me, at least. And for all those years, I had a deep desire to grow a business of my own.
But my life looked like this:
Out of the house for 11 hours a day, slaving away for a male chauvinist at work, rushing home to pick up the kids, quickly figuring out dinner, and getting everybody to bed.
Eventually, I looked at my husband and said, “This is ridiculous. This is not the life we want. If you can just have a little faith in me, I know I can be an entrepreneur.”
He agreed! :-)
So, I decided to post a message inside a Facebook group for mamas, offering business coaching and a glass of wine to any mom-entrepreneurs who wanted some support.
It was overwhelming how many women just in my local area reached out for help because they were leaving their jobs or thinking of leaving their jobs and needed to know how they were going to market themselves to replace their income ASAP!
I would have them over to my house, teach them everything I knew, and we’d chat about business and life.
This quickly blossomed into a membership community, and I became a business coach (seemingly) overnight.
Pretty soon, though, I was having the same realization that Amy talks about when she was working one-on-one…
“If I don’t figure out this online thing soon, I’m going to burn out hard, and we’ll be right back to where we were when I worked for someone else.”
That was just NOT an option!
So, I joined Digital Course Academy and decided that, instead of teaching the same lessons over and over again to each new client, I would make them into a course that mom-entrepreneurs could watch on their own!
Inside of the membership called Mama & Co, we offer courses for women entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses.
It’s exciting because my one-on-one coaching is almost always on a waitlist, so now I can send people to my course to get started working on their business while they wait.
Since doing this, my email list has gone from 200 to 5,000 people.
And the amount of my income that comes from one-on-one coaching has gone down from 60% to 30% while my revenue has grown 25–50% year after year!
