My life has been a whirlwind — in the best way — since starting the Digital Course Academy last fall.
Along with my full-time teaching job, I’ve had a side business for over ten years.
It’s called Paper Garden Workshop, and I teach garden design and landscape graphics to budding designers around the world.
When I first found out about DCA from one of my friends, I was so excited about the opportunity to create something amazing that my mind was racing with ideas…
But then I saw the cost.
I needed to make sure if I took this leap of faith, that this would make sense financially.
After some number crunching, I realized that if I had just 10 students sign up, then DCA was well worth my investment. (I could do that!)
So in February 2021 I signed up and launched my course, Garden Graphics Tool Kit, with the help of DCA.
And following Amy’s advice, I launched it EVEN THOUGH I hadn’t finished it yet.
(That’s VERY unlike me… and gave me a bit of anxiety, but Amy said that it didn’t have to be perfect or complete to sell it. So I just went for it!)
Well, remember how I only needed 10 students to make my investment back in DCA?
I did BETTER than that! Lots better, in fact.
On my first launch ever, 67 students signed up and I made $44,400 in sales!
After my course was complete, my new students wanted to CONTINUE learning, so we created a membership to support them. (Making another $8,800 to date!)
Then I launched again in June and 23 more students signed up. And I made an additional $19,750 in sales!!
The fact that I can continue to build this business on the side with a flexible schedule while I’m still teaching is a dream come true.
DCA has been invaluable and is one of the best investments I ever made.
I learned that a course doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful (I really needed to hear that).
I learned that a strong marketing framework is the difference maker between a failed launch and a successful one.
And most importantly, I learned that I CAN DO THIS!
