While traveling with my husband and child, we came across a cute, intimate indoor playground cafe that we all loved! It wasn’t a large chain or overwhelmingly large indoor fun zone. This one I actually wanted to be at. I thought it was such an amazing idea and couldn’t stop thinking about it!

So one day in 2015 I decided to stop daydreaming about it, and that’s when I decided to leave my corporate marketing job and create my own indoor playground right in my own town. Since I went to business school and have a background in finance and marketing, I thought, “This will be easy, right!?”

Wrong.

I made a lot of mistakes, and it was a struggle for a couple of years to make money. But after about two years of trying different ideas, I finally figured out the business model and we surprisingly started becoming profitable.

I had been documenting my systems the whole time so I could analyze what was working and what was not. And along with the store’s success came questions from people flooding my business inbox…“How did you do it? Let me know your secret!”

I noticed this as a money-making opportunity, and that’s when I started doing one-on-one consulting to help other people start their own indoor playground business in their town too.

At first, I thought this was the perfect little consulting business for me since I now had two kiddos and this gave me the flexibility to make my own schedule. But soon enough it started to become too much. And I felt like all I was doing all day was answering the same questions over and over…

Now, back when I had first opened my playground business, I began listening to Amy’s podcast simply for her marketing tips. But when I found myself doing consulting I really started paying attention to what Amy was saying about digital course creation.

Every time I would listen to an episode about becoming a digital course creator I would think, “I’m really missing out on something. I could take all my knowledge and make a digital course!”

So in my typical fashion, I rushed and created my first signature program. I thought I could just figure it all out on my own… but I was wrong. I just wasn’t getting enough sales.

So I looked to Amy again and purchased her course which tells how to use webinars. I just knew that HAD to be the missing piece.

In 2019 I launched my course again using Amy’s live webinar strategy and I made $60,000 that year!! Now I felt like I was on to something!

BUT I soon realized people were not finishing the course and I was not generating success stories. I needed those success stories to use in my marketing if I was going to sell more.

So I went back to Amy again for more help!

I signed up for Amy's course and had my biggest breakthrough when I realized I really needed to fix my content. But then life happened… and my course got put on the back burner…. until COVID that is! All of a sudden I had lots of time! I decided to get serious, go all in, and sign up for Digital Course Academy.

I thought that because I had a background in marketing and because I knew what I wanted to say, that creating a digital course would be so simple. But I needed DCA to guide me as I sold my course and turned it into a profitable course business.

Using the DCA footprint, I have created my successful starter course, signature course, spotlight courses, and memberships. These are all on evergreen and bring in a consistent form of revenue.

And this worked for me even though I am NOT a social media person, and I didn’t want to have to become one to have a successful online course.

I found a strategy that works for me, I target people who have already found me from YouTube, offer my inexpensive starter course. And from there they can decide if they want to continue their journey with me. (My courses are not for everyone, and I am perfectly fine with that!)

In 2021 I brought in over $125,000 in course sales, and I am on track this year to more than double that number! Since its creation, I have brought in over $200,000 from my signature course alone. Not only am I earning a great living, but I get to spend all the time I want with my children and work as much or as little as I want, all thanks to my online course business.

Update: As of August 2023, Michele is earning $30,000 per month from her evergreen courses and products!
