I know beauty. I spent my career in the industry, including being the Former Associate Beauty Editor at Essence Magazine, helping beauty companies find bloggers and social media influencers to amplify their brand messaging, create YouTube tutorials and other content.

What I didn’t know how to do was build a course that would allow me to leave the client side of my business behind. Since I was already a dedicated listener of Amy’s Online Marketing Made Easy podcast, I had a lot of resources at my disposal—enough to allow me to attempt launching my first course called Digital Beauty School.

I launched five times over 18 months and pulled in five figures, but the money wasn’t really the point. I was learning lessons about my budding community and what they really wanted.

I no longer take 1-1 clients and I’m looking to scale my business strategically. I now have a membership bringing in steady recurring revenue as I go back to grad school and get my kids through school during COVID.

One of the things I absolutely love about DCA is the community. It helped so much to read about what other people are doing and ask questions. Not so long ago she asked a question about an idea she had for an upcoming pre-launch and she was ever so glad that she did.
