I’m what I call an “accidental entrepreneur.”

I had been working in healthcare as a clinical health psychologist with a background in eating disorders and weight management. And throughout my training I kept witnessing how the system wasn’t set up to successfully help our patients.

I knew I wasn’t going to be able to personally help people as effectively as I wanted to unless I went out on my own. So I left in January 2021 and started my own private practice.

I wasn’t ever intending to start a business, but I just couldn’t make the impact I wanted to in the healthcare system (hence the term “accidental entrepreneur”).

As I was getting my practice set up, I kept coming up against one big challenge:

How can I go big to help more women create trust with their bodies without sacrificing the results we are able to achieve in my one-on-one interactions? Everyone is going to be at different points in their journey. How do I meet everyone’s needs?

That’s when I came up with the idea to launch a podcast and also create a digital course with the help of DCA. (Talk about huge goals!)

DCA gave me the framework for a successful course and the step-by-step instructions to follow in order to launch it. And I made $11,000 from 2 launches in one year!

The support from the accountability pods has been HUGE in helping me maintain my momentum and giving me really great feedback on my program. (Even though I completed DCA, I still talk to the people from my pods a couple of times a month.)

I launched my course in April 2021. And as life seems to happen sometimes, at the same time I was launching my course there was some unexpected chaos with my children’s day care closing.

So I just decided I was going to do what I could!

With Amy’s help, I first got 10 founding members, and then I quickly got 7 more. And I was so cool with that!

Then I chose to do a second launch this September. And again, life seemed to happen during this one too. (One of my family members was admitted to the hospital.)

So I remembered my motto, “I’m just going to do what I can” and decided to make it an email-only launch.

The result: I had six more people sign up!

I now see a lot of hope for the life flexibility my digital course will offer. Even though I am in the startup phase right now, I can see how being a course creator can create a lot of freedom in my life over time. (And I am so excited about that!)

Amy is great at making you believe that you can do this, even though sometimes you might wonder if you really can. If it weren’t for Amy and DCA, I’d still be stuck wondering how I could expand my private practice to help more people all over the world, outside of one-on-one consultations… but now I am!
