Lana used to be my boss when I was working in corporate. Now we’re building a business together. (And it’s AMAZING!) One day when we were still working in corporate, she said, “I’m quitting!” The hours were waaaay too long, and she didn’t have any passion for the work. When she told me she had no idea what she was going to do once she left, I couldn’t believe it.

Well, she went on to start a business renovating houses with two of her best friends. And I went on to have another baby. (I already had twins.) After I had my son I found myself in the same position that Lana had been in before she quit. It was time for me to do something different too.

So what did I do? I dabbled in some online businesses in homewares and interiors in my spare time. (Yet you don’t really have much of that with 3 kids.)

That’s when Lana asked me if I could help them with their business. So, I came on board as the second employee at Three Birds Renovations.

When I joined the company, they wanted me to help them build an online course.

Three Birds Renovation has a mission to inspire and empower women to get their dream home. But there was only ever so much we could do to help women via an Instagram post or blog. Our course would show others how they could design, renovate, and style their dream home themselves!

Figuring out how to build an online course was harder than I thought it would be. There was no support at the time. Particularly in Australia, there was no one!

When I first found Amy, I wasn’t sure if DCA would be useful for us. We had already scaled our business with a course. But I could see that Amy was an expert in the field, and that’s what prompted us to join. We thought, “It can’t hurt. We’re going to learn something.”

Well, we learned TONS! Doing DCA was a catalyst to us realizing the potential of Three Birds Renovations. It gave us a road map to help us take the next step.

When we started with DCA we already had about 50,000 email subscribers across all our lists. Thanks to Amy, we put together a lead magnet and stepped up our lead generation. That’s when we added 25,000 more subscribers!

We ran a webinar for our first DCA-style launch and got 120 students from it. We were happy with that! Previously we had 800 students and thought that if we got an extra 120 from our first webinar, that would be good. (And we did!)

In the end, after running Facebook ads to get people into our funnel for our first DCA launch, we added close to 1,200 students. (WOW!)

Our last launch was very interesting because it happened during Covid. Typically we don’t do as well at this time of year anyway. I thought we were going to get about 750 students, but we got 1,800. For us that meant $1.4 million in sales!

DCA was honestly the jumping-off point for getting us on track to hit our 7-figure goal when we did! It’s been so great. Thanks, Amy, for helping us get there so soon!
